Progressive Workshop of Armstrong County

Formed in 1968 by a group of concerned citizens who wanted to provide vocational rehabilitation services to people with disabilities. Various civic groups raised the money needed for the first year of operation. Currently, funding is obtained through the Office of Mental Health and intellectual and developmental disabilities of Armstrong and Indiana Counties and the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation.

This United Way has been in existence since 1959. They are interested in programs that benefit the people within the county and rely on the generous giving of others to meet their yearly goal. Much thought and caring is given in selecting the Agencies that will receive the monies.

The object of the United Way is to eliminate the effort and cost of many separate fund-raising campaigns. The United Way conducts one annual countywide fund-raising campaign, retaining 98% of the contributions for local use, to provide financial needs to twenty health, welfare, and character-building organizations providing human service in Indiana County.
